The state minister in the office of the prime minister for Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo has challenged communities to come together and help themselves in issues that are essential in their lives not to wait to be supported in everything.

While commissioning the 2 unit staff quarter block at Kitumba Church of Uganda primary school in Fort portal, Minister Kaboyo noted that people in communities endeavor to contribute to common cause such as the church constructions but when it comes to contributions towards schools in their areas, they keep a deaf ear yet also schools need positive response.

She called upon Kitumba Primary school management and administration to make sure that they maintain the structures that have been built for the school so that they fulfill their objectives.

The school Headteacher Amos Nsamba Kawuma commended the Minister for the special consideration that has been extended to Fort portal city to ensure better learning facilities and better teachers motivation with in the environment. He added that Kitumba Primary school has been having only one school quarter which accommodates two teachers more than those meant to use them.

He revealed that Fort Portal city council has 30 government aided primary schools with a population of 30,000 pupils, with 392 candidates who sat for PLE this year, and 10 government secondary schools. However, he expressed concern over the inadequate school structures in these schools that none of the schools has a staff house for teachers, and appealed to the minister for more help.

He asked the minister that the way Kitumba primary school has benefitted from the office of the prime minister is the same way that Kitumba Secondary school should be helped.

The Fortportal city RCC  commended the office of the prime minster for supporting Fortportal city in different education challenges and asked for more support towards the schools in the area that are not yet in good condition.

The project consumed 180 million shillings.
