As the government continues to extend appreciation towards the veterans families in different parts of the country, the State Minister in the office of the Prime Minister for Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo has promised the families of the Veterans in different parts of the country that government is to continue expressing its appreciation towards them for the contribution towards their country’s freedom.

This has been revealed through the houses that are being constructed and handed over to the families of the veterans. The first phase has covered five houses being constructed, one in Luwero, one in Wakiso, another one to be constructed in Mbarara, another one in Mukono and the one in Budaka district, and there are plans to construct more houses in the second phase.

While handing over the new house constructed for the Late Veteran Peter Mpiima in Budaka district, who died in Mbaale Maluku estate, Hon Alice Kaboyo called upon the families of the veterans and other people to make use of government programs such as PDM, Emyooga and as well can make Saccos among themselves and go to the office of the Prime Minister and get loans from the micro project fund so that they can help themselves out of poverty.

However, she expressed concern over headteachers in goverment aided schools who ask for money from parents that has scared away most of the children from the veteran’s families to acquire education since they can not afford paying the fees they are asked for. She promised to punish and replace such headteachers who ask for that money.

Paul Waku, a beneficiary from Mpiima’s family expressed gratitude towards the Minister for the new house and requested that the government should make plans to return the remains of the deceased to his family for proper burial.

The General manager of NEC Brian Buhanda,  the construction company that was given the obligation to construct the new veterans houses, has expressed appreciation towards government for giving their company chance to construct such houses as it has given them room to expose their potential.

Budaka RDC George Magunda challenged parents who don’t make it a point to send their children to school which he says will affect their future. This is the fact that he saw more kids loitering in the different areas of Budaka on school going days. He also urged people to embrace the government programs such as PDM and Emyooga so that they can take advantage of them to fight poverty.
