After procuring iron sheets for the development of the Busoga sub regions, the Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister for Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori region, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, launched the distribution of the iron sheets for Busoga sub regions on 11/10/2024 as a way of assisting vulnerable communities and other institutions such as schools that need support.

During the financial year 2023/2024, the Ministry for the Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori region procured 15,333 iron sheets at a cost of UGX 942,978,783. The Ministry also plans to procure an additional 15,000 iron sheets for distribution to vulnerable veterans and institutions.

While launching the distribution of these iron sheets at the Jinja District headquarters, Hon. Alice Kaboyo revealed that the Office of the Prime Minister, through the Ministry of Luwero Triangle and Busoga Affairs, is committed to collaborating with all relevant stakeholders, especially local leaders, to ensure effective service delivery.

She urged all leaders in the region to work closely with her to mobilize, sensitize, and support the community in engaging with all government programs aimed at helping people escape poverty.

According to Hon. Kaboyo, the Busoga Affairs Portfolio has implemented and continues to implement various government interventions aimed at developing the Busoga region. One such initiative is the Parish Community Association (PCA), which provides development support to communities through parish-level associations of self-help groups. The PCAs, implemented during the financial years 2019/20 to 2021/2022, can be likened to the government programs under the Parish Development Model.

In addition to its support for the Busoga region, the Ministry has facilitated the construction of three classroom blocks in primary schools: Namayemba in Buliri District, Bwondha in Mayuge District, and Nababirye in Kamuli District, at a total cost of UGX 840,000,000. Hon. Kaboyo revealed that the Ministry is collaborating with the respective district local governments to expedite the commissioning of these buildings.

She further revealed that they plan to build three classroom blocks at Nagugi College in Namayingo District, Lambala Primary School in Luuka District, and Irapa Primary School in Buyende District. Each block will include an office, a store, and five-stance VIP latrines, with a total expected cost of UGX 840,000,000 planned for the financial year 2024/2025.

Hon Kaboyo challenged area members of parliament, district technical and political leaders, and all relevant stakeholders to work together in the coordination, identification, and distribution of deliverables.
