State minister in the office of the prime minster for Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region Alice Kaboyo led the campaign for collecting funds for the construction of classroom blocks suitable for the pupils education in Buhuhira Primary school in Buhuhira sub county, Kasese District.

It should be noted that this school was used as a shelter for the NRA fighters during the liberation war in the 1980s which makes it unique in the history of the NRM government. However the state of this school calls for attention since its buildings are no longer safe for the total number of 633 pupils and the space is not enough at the same time.

While gracing the fundraising event of this school, minister Kaboyo pledged to stand with the school to give it a new life in the financial year 2024/2025 through the affirmative action under the office of the prime minister. She revealed plans to construct anew 3 classroom block building and 3 stance pit latrines for this school. However she contributed 200 iron sheets towards the school and instructed the UPDF engineering brigade to watch over the construction work.

She commeded Kasese government officials, minister Kabbyanga, the school administration, parents and students for the contribution towards the school.

The school Headteacher Nelson Bwambale expressed concern over the safety of both the pupils and the staff since the state of the buildings is very poor. He added that due to limited space of the school, they have no choice but to use the church as classrooms for class activities.

At the fundraising function, parents, teachers, students and well wishers managed to contribute over 42 million shillings cash, out of the 116 million shillings needed for the whole project.

Minister Kaboyo was accompanied by the minister of state for National guidance Hon Godfrey Kabbyanga Baluku.
