Minister Kaboyo tours Agro forestry recreation centre Uganda in Kiboga, pledges support towards the project

State Minister in the office of the Prime Minister for Luwero triangle and Rwenzori region Hon Alice Kaboyo has on Tuesday February 13th 2024 toured the Agro forestry recreation centre Uganda, in Kibisi village, Kyome Subcounty in Kiboga district to look at how it has helped women to fight against poverty among themselves.

This initiative is an NGO founded by Harriet Lubega a Ugandan based in Sweden with her sister Charity to help women in Kiboga through empowering them with skills to help them earn some income and improve their livelihoods.

During the tour, Minister Kaboyo commended Harriet for the initiative as it has helped to empower women with skills in agricultural projects such as poultry, goat keeping, coffee farming, bee keeping, rabbit rearing fruit production, tree planting among others which has helped women to earn money and take good care over their families .

Hon Kaboyo added that if people can return to the country and work together with the government to take on such initiatives, it would add to the country’s development. However,

She added that the President recommends Bamboo plantation in Kiboga to help cover the hills as Bamboo can help in building, can be used in paper making, and creation of employment opportunities, and urged them to take on the project for the government to see how to support it.

The Minister asked families especially veterans families to stay away from selling off their land but instead start up projects for the benefit of their families and give government chance to support them through their projects, as it helps families to leave legacies.

Kiboga district RDC Nalubega Mariam Seguya commended Harriet for the community development through training women with skills that has helped them earn some money and improve their livelihood. She pledged to work together with her to see things move smoothly.

Founder, Agro forestry recreation centre Uganda Harriet Lubega appealed to people who are financially stable to start up such initiatives to develop their communities and the country at large but not to wait for the government as it can not do everything, and appreciated Hon Kaboyo for respecting her invitation.

Harriet with support from Sweden Uganda Aid, started this farm and also established a primary school and adult education to women through skilling to help develop the community through empowering people with education.

This initiative has answered some of the SDGs such as no poverty through employment opportunities, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, quality education, and climate change.

The function was attended by the RDC kiboga district, LC5 Chairman, area DPC, Diso, councillors and other people from Kibisi village in Kiboga district.
