In response to the longstanding corruption challenges in Kyegegwa district, Hon Alice Kaboyo, the State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister for the Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori region, paid a courtesy visit to veterans in the Western district of Kyegegwa. The purpose of her visit was to engage with them in discussions on overcoming corruption in the district.
During the meeting held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Minister Kaboyo expressed gratitude to the veterans for their commitment to combating corruption through their newly formed committee. She pledged her support to help them overcome corruption in their district and the country as a whole.
She pledged on behalf of the government to stand firmly with the veterans in this endeavor, recognizing its importance in upholding the government’s image. She called upon all citizens to join hands in combating corruption, emphasizing that it is a collective responsibility.
Minister Kaboyo advised the veterans to use the Akasiimo money given to them productively to bring about positive changes in their lives.
She encouraged them to seize opportunities provided by government programs such as PDM, the youth livelihood program, Emyooga, and others, so that they can effectively transform their lives.
Monica Karungi, the RDC for Kyegegwa district, commended the veterans for their efforts in maintaining peace and order in the district and for their contributions to resolving land disputes.
Similarly, Brigadier Jacob Asiimwe, Chairman for the Veterans, echoed the Minister’s sentiments and urged veterans not only to prioritize Akasiimo but also to take advantage of government programs aimed at facilitating life transformations.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Veterans Lt. Wilson Byaboona presented a plan to the Minister to establish an anti-corruption unit dedicated to combating corruption.
