State minsiter in charge of higher education Dr. JC Muyingo has warned leaders who are given responsibility to give out money for the PDM program to the people who are supposed to get it, but not to attempt to misappropriate it as they will suffer the consquencies from the government.

This follows complaints from the residents that the money that was given by the government under the PDM program has not been given to them, and others say that the conditions attached to it are so strict which scares them from getting it.

During the meeting with Zirobwe town council leaders for PDM groups in Luwero district which took place at the town council headquarters, Dr. Muyingo expressed concern over the money that was given out by the President to benefit the low income earners yet some leaders are not clearly giving it out to the vulnerable groups.

The Mayor for Zirobwe town council Immarach Pascal has reported to the minister that the PDM program is good and beneficial to the citizens but the village chiefs have challenges with movement around their areas to sensitize the residents about the program yet others lack the knowledge to enter the data into the computers.

The ONC cordinator in Luwero Metropolitan Wasswa Tamale has ordered the leaders of the different PDM groups in Luwero to top up the 1million shillings that was meant to be given to the people under this program, who were instead given half of the money.

However, Dr. Muyingo has cautioned people who have so far been able to access this money to carefully use it in developmental issues and avoid to misuse it, as it is tax payers money which needs to fulfill what it is meant to be used for. He added that group leaders should give out the money to the people with an aim of helping them overcome poverty but they should not forget to respect the conditions behind this money.
