After wining their USSSA 2023 Schools boys football title for the third times in row and 11th on record after beating Masaka region giants St. Henry’s College Kitovu 1-0, goal scored by Abdul Noor Nsereko in the first period of the game.
Emerging the 2023 champions St. Mary’s ss Kitende levelled Kibuli SS as record winners at 11 titles.
St. Mary’s SS Kitende head coach Mr. Daniel Male complained that some Super division clubs refused to release players to play for Kitende which have hindered the playing system.
” Some Premier League Clubs denied some of our students to to take pat in the tournament but all in all we managed to play well, I thank the Almighty God that we have emerged the champion with all those hardships. “Male told journalists at Kitende.
The team was welcomed on Sunday morning by the School director Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa and his daughter at the school campus in Kitende Wakiso district.
Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa thanked the players for not disappointing him and said that it was good preparation which have made all those good fruits and appeal to players to go on with their studies as they prepare for FEASSSA game due to take place at Wuye Rwanda in August.
Dr. Mulindwa concluded his message by giving heavy envelopes to each of the members contingent travelled to Fort portal including players, driver, coaches, team doctors among others.
PLAYERS WERE GIVEN 10 DAYS VACATION
Dr. Mulindwa have given his players more 10 days vacation to continue resting from the reporting day.
According to Mulindwa, the students will report on Thursday but the players will report after 10 days.
The players include:
Allan Batali (GK), Justine Opiro, Derrick Kato, Simon Mukisa, Ronald Madoi, Frank Katongole, Abubaker Walusimbi, Samuel Lukoye, Patrick Ssekyanzi, Habib Oloya, Abdul Noor Nsereko, Rwatib Gulanyago, Hakim Mutebi, Derrick Kaija, Keneth Luguya, Marvin Mukiibi, Nyarwa Olimi, Fred Muhanguzi.
Kitende had previously won the trophy in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2019 and 2022.
St. Mary’s SS Kitende, St. Hanry’s College Kitovu, Royal Giants High School will represent Uganda in the East Africa secondary schools games2023 championship while Kibuli SS will go as the defending champions.
