Museveni guarantees Basoga of a better livelihood

President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has assured the people of Busoga and Bugweri district in particular of his government’s commitment in improving their livelihood.

The President’s assurance was contained in a message, which Premier; Robinah Nabbanja delivered on his behalf at the dua (thanksgiving) of several Hajjis who were celebrating their safe return from Mecca at a joint function held in Buwooya (kiDhakaba) village, Buyanga sub – County of Bugweri district on Saturday, July 15.

Uganda’s Ambassador to United Arab Emirates – UAE (Abu Dhabi), Zaake Kibedi as well as seven other celebrant Hajjis and Hajats – notably the Busoga Kingdom’s 2nd Deputy Prime Minister, Osman Ahmed Noor and Mohammed Nkuutu – the President of the Abaise Menhya Clan amongst others, organised the thanksgiving.

The function attracted several other central government dignitaries including the 1st Deputy Premier Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga; 3rd Deputy Premier and Minister Without Portfolio (a daughter in the family), Rukia Nakadama as well as members of parliament representing different constituencies within Busoga.

Also in attendance were the 2nd deputy Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, Busoga Kingdom’s 1st deputy Premier Prof. Dr Muhamadi Lubega Kisambira, Issabalangira of Busoga Samuel Nkuutu Zirabamuzaale Menhya as well as investors from UAE.

Nabbanja revealed that the government had ordered for road equipment, which would be distributed to various districts – including Bugweri to fix road networks as a way of increasing the mobility of labour and materials – a feat that would in turn propel people’s livelihoods into a better life – far beyond the rural production boundary. 

She pledged to notify the President about the Bugweri district chairperson, Shafic Menyha’s request to upgrade the Busesa Health Centre IV to a general hospital status.

Nabbanja revealed that Ugx400m had been earmarked in the current financial year for the construction of the Bugweri district headquarter administration block.

She delivered a cash envelope from President Yoweri Museveni to Ambassador Zaake and pledged to donate iron sheets for the roofing of a Church in the area.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, who graced the function – commended Muslim-faithful in the country for their strict adherence to the norms of the religion. 

Ambassador Zaake, who introduced his guests from the UAE, disclosed to Premier Nabbanja how his family group had established a fully registered SACCO – Bamenha with an aim of fighting poverty.
