The Buganda Chiefs Council has broken the silence about the over Shs 9 billion worth of land that the government purchased for Buganda Clan Leaders who secretly met President Museveni without the consent of the kingdom.

The revelation was made by the speaker of the chiefs’ council Namwama Augustine Kizito Mutumba who said that investigations by the kingdom in this matter revealed that the land was just a gift which the kingdom accepted and it was acknowledged to the Kabaka.

Namwama Mutumba urged the Buganda people not to worry about this because the Kabaka is aware of the issue.

This followed a back clash between the pinned chiefs who secretly met President Museveni with the guidance of ICT state minister Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo which Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga condemned openly in the Buganda Lukiiko and this instigated the investigation into the matter.

On several occasions, Buganda King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II met President Museveni and both discussed working best for the people of Uganda hence the secret meeting of the Clan chiefs was the first of its kind to happen.

Katikkiro Mayiga has often stated that discussions between the central government and the kingdom are only sanctioned by the King or Katikkiro himself and this stirred feelings of the batakas’ likelihood to be apprehended for going against the norms.
