President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on Monday February 19th welcomed Botswana scientists led by Andrew Madeswi to collaborate on a foot and mouth disease vaccine, highlighting the potential for trade and economic growth through cooperation in agriculture, minerals, and energy with Botswana.

Mr. Museveni said after the meeting that.” I was pleased to welcome a team of scientists from Botswana led by Mr. Andrew Madeswi, CEO of Botswana Vaccine Institute. This meeting is a follow-up to my discussion with His Excellency President Masisi in January this year on both countries working together to find a lasting solution to foot and mouth disease.

The partnership to develop a vaccine for this disease is very welcome, and we shall support it. I am happy to learn that the scientists have already made progress in this regard. When we combine our interests in Agriculture, minerals and energy, we unlock many opportunities for trade and economic transformation.

I commend President Masisi on Botswana’s re-awakening of cooperation with Africa to augment mineral trading with other parts of the world. I look forward to a well-developed Joint Framework of Cooperation across different economic sectors.” said president Museveni.
