The Uganda U17 Women’s national team registered their first victory at the COSAFA U17 Women’s Championship, dispatching hosts Mauritius 11-0 on Sunday.

Skipper Juliet Nalukenge was the star of the show as she scored six goals to cup a commanding performance.

Nalukenge struck twice in the first half before adding another four in the second period.

Fauza Najjemba helped her self to a brace while goalkeeper Daphine Nanyenga converted from the spot before Stella Musubika and Margaret Kunihira scored a goal each.

As early as the second minute, Uganda took the lead through Kunihira before Nalukenge doubled their lead three minutes later.

Defender Musubika got Uganda’s third goal just before Nalukenge added two more to complete her hat trick before the break to ensure Uganda a 5-0 lead.

Despite scoring many goals in the first half, Uganda kept surging forward with Nalukenge scoring three more goals in the 49th, 51st, 61st and 74th minutes.

Najjemba added one more in the 66th minute after goalkeeper Daphine Nanyenga had converted from the spot when Nalukenge was fouled inside the area in the 54th minute.

Nalukenge was named player of the match she received the accolade and a ball after scoring a hat trick.

The victory elevates Uganda to four points from two games but still second in group A behind Zambia who defeated Comoros 15-0 on the same day.

Uganda and Zambia have qualified to the semi finals because Comoros and Mauritius are remaining with only one game which not generate more than three points.

Uganda will return to action on Tuesday against Comoros in the final group game.
Nalukenge is now the leading goal scorer with 7 goals.
