National Squash tournament kicks off, winners to walk away with shs2m, sugar from tournament sponsors, Kinayara Sugar

This year’s National Open Squash tournament which is sponsored by Kinyara Sugar Limited started with two games at Kampala Club venue. In the first game of the day,  Timothy Kayondo defeated Allan Kiwuuwa by 3:1 sets with a score of 11/8,  11/7,  2/11,  11/4  and the second game of the day Abdeel Kyeziira defeated Raphael Ssozi by sets 3:0. 

The games will resume tomorrow with games from different participants including participants from Kenya,  Tanzania and Rwanda who were supposed to be in the country by Monday but delayed on the way and supposed to join the participants by tomorrow.

In other fixtures we shall see Paul Kadoma taking on Baggya Rossi,  Ronnie Kaserenge taking on Isma Bwanika,  Owen Agaba taking on Vincent Kibira,  Ali Sewagudde taking on Emma Rodney,  Martin Matsiko taking on Sam Mwogeza.

According to JB Tamwesigire Ahimbisibwe ,  president Uganda squash and Rackets Association said that they expect a good tornament and we hope more than 100 participants to feature and i myself will also feature in the catergory of 50 years and above which will start on wednesday.

Timothy Kayondo,  who defeated Allan Kiwuuwa in the first game, told the journalist that after his win, he expect to perform well in this tournament.

The tournament will run for one week and it will end on Saturday with male winner will walk away wirh 2million shiiling, second will walk away with 1.5 million shilling and third with 1m while female winner will walk away with 1million shiling abd second with 500, 000.

The women’s category will start on Wednesday with different participants.
