Ndejje University, CFK are among winners of National Badminton league season one

Ndejje defeated Mbogo High Warriors in final to win professional category of the National Badminton league first edition.

The league have been in action from January to November and climaxed on Saturday 25th at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

With 6 teams taking part in the league two formats got applied starting with round robin at early stage of the Professional categorist leading four teams from the first format were seen qualifying  to Knockout stage.

Ndejje University, Mbogo High Warriors, Victoria University Wasps and Kampala Badminton Club main team were the teams got into knockout while The CFK Patriots and Kampala Badminton Club team B stopped at first stage.

As the league were categorized into 4 dockets, Professionals, Cooperates, Schools Boys and Girls.

The CFK Cooperates became tallest over Mbogo High Warriors Entebe Institute and State House badminton Club.

In School category Kibuli SS B team where emerged boy’s champions ahead of St Michael International as the Kibuli SS main team finishing third out of 10 teams that took part in the competition.

On Girls side Mbogo High was  the best of the 8 participated teams, Lubaga Girls were runners up and Mbogo Juniors finished 3rd.

Having completed successfully the Chairperson of Uganda Badminton Association Florence Nakamya considered the first league edition as a positive affection.

“At first we wanted people to play, and we have played successfully, we have got new players and those who have been dormant managed to get back the court, through this initiative some players have managed to secure scholarships.

The league will return in February 2024 with second edition.
