Nerick Bulabe causes troubles for Mawanda in a stopped fight

The Uganda Boxing Champions League week 7 ended on short note as the main fight between Nerick Tumusiime and Depark Mawanda could cross into third round.

The fight had to go five rounds but Nerick who allies as Bulebe meaning Dangerous was on the course of his name toward Mawanda.

The fight started at 11:10pm on Saturday 17 August 2024 at Club Obligation following 18 undercard bouts which had two of them getting won by walkover.

 From the word go Nerick the Kololo High student started by throwing hard punches at Mawanda who was rarely replying.

By the end of first round Mawanda had already went down not once but twice as the house full of fans standing in Jubilation.

The fight went in its second round and it was there things turned worse for Mawanda as he went down, got counted twice and then the referee got forced to call off the contest on medical advisees.

Despite at first Mawanda  was appearing disappointed showing that he was still having nerves to continue but after final announcement he ended up going for medical attention while Nerick Bulabe left the venue flying high in the arms of his fans.

Prior the main fight the day started at 5:00pm with Juniors and youth contest where we saw Joshua Mwenda demolishing Jonathan Sseguya by unanimous decision 5-0 and both fighters represented Sparks Boxing Club.

After review Timothy Mutebi of Lukanga won Julius Ocen of KCCA in the 45Kg before turning to female ring between Zakia Mundu from UPDF and Kellen Mukisa of Lukanda and the fight went to UPDF Boxer.

The day 7 of the Sting energy drink powered competition continued with an Elite 80kg contest where Becker Malidi of Kyengera Boxing club won over Ronnie Wandera by technical knock out in the second round of the fight was the first on the day to be called off by technical personnels.

In other fights to select out of the day was aggressive Shafick Mawanda losing to Livingston Matovu 4-3 after review.

More saw Emily Nakalema and Mathias Kyeyuna won their contests without throwing a single punch following the absence of their opponents in Scovia Muzira and Wasswa Ssali.

The week 8 is awaited to come on 31 of August 2024 at  as Richard Kasujja of Lukanga facing off with Bernard Mukwaya of Kiwatule in the main fight of the day.
