New Life Katereke 1-0 Mutungo FC
Shafik Kaweesi handed New Life Katereke FC the only goal of the game against Mutungo FC. The goal came at the 75th minute of the play via a penalty which had touch of Mutungo FC Goalkeeper Hilbert Atim before getting into the back of the net.
The penalty won by Colin Muleme after receiving the ball following a pass exchange involving Kaweesi, Baale and Miod.
Colin received the ball turning in front of the goal and Mutungo FC players Herbert Ndyanabo approached to put him on the ground inside the penalty area.
Indeed it was a bad day for Mutungo FC having missed an open goal when Farouk Kaigwan pushed his effort over the bar in the opening minutes of the game.
Few minutes after conceding they lost their Captain Patrick Mukuza after getting red carded following reckless foul on Katereke’s Collins Onesmus.
At a time when they were a man down a levelling chances twice but Mugisha King free header and shot went over the bar and Strike Tony Lwanga got New Life Katereke goalkeeper Geoffrey Opio on one on one but just won a free kick which resulted to nothing.
New Life Katereke also got some chances but goalkeeper Atim was active saving Trevor Ssempala’s first half low corner shot and Miod’s scond half shot.
Both teams dominated either halves of the game with Mutungo FC dominating the first stanza over New life Katereke side which had 4 new recruits but the performance forced Coach Abby Kavuma to an early substitution bringing on Travor Baale for Ivan Nsubuga.
In the second half New life Katereke got much control of the game following half time double changes with Shafik Kaweesi and returning Miod Aksam coming on for Fahad Socco and Trevor Ssempala.
Mutungo FC coach Alex Shida tried to regain to the control by changing game tactics and substitutions bringing in Ivan Bukenya for Farouk Kaigwan then adding on Muhammad Lubega for Maurice Tumusiime and Muganyizi Douglas for Pius Koyelo.
Remarkably he brought on Mugisha King for Michael Kasadha but King was guided wrongly by his gods to miss two chances at the dying minutes of the game to see his side Mutungo FC losing the game which delayed over 45 minutes by Kampala regional women league game causing Katereke, Mutungo game played just for 80 minutes (40 each half)ten minutes less than normal time.
The results saw New life Katereke FC levelling Water FC on 24 points to become 3rd over taking Mutungo FC who remained on 23 points in the Scorpion group.
New Life Katereke will return to action on Saturday 9th March 2024 visiting Edgar’s Youth FC at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku, while Mutungo FC will return to action with a home game against table leaders CATIDA FC at Luzira prisons grounds on Sunday 10th March.
