Newly appointed ministers have on Monday taken oath in a swearing-in ceremony held at State House, Entebbe. The ceremony that was presided by the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe in the presence of President Yoweri Museveni and other delegates saw 7 new ministers take an oath.

The ministers that sworn in are; Judith Nabakooba, Minister for ICT, Peter Ogwang, State Minister for ICT, Raphael Magyezi, Minister for Local Government, State Minister for Health (General Duties) Robinah Nabbanja, Hamson Obua, State Minister for Sports, Hellen Adoa (State Minister for Fisheries), Molly Kamukama, (state minister for Economic Monitoring) and state minister for Environment, Beatrice Anywar.

Kyaka South MP Jackson Kafuuzi who had been appointed as Deputy Attorney General missed out of the swearing-in ceremony.

Kafuuzi’s ministerial appointment was on January 03, 2020 questioned by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee for lack of the mandatory 7 year experience.

It is said that Kafuuzi stopped renewing his practicing license as an advocate in 2016 when he was elected as MP. According to Don Wanyama, the Presidential Press Secretary, President Yoweri Museveni cautioned the new ministers against involvement in corruption and added that the youthful appointees to the cabinet should learn from their older colleagues and serve the country diligently. After the swearing-in ceremony, the new ministers joined the rest for a cabinet meeting at State House which usually sits every Monday.
