As the Netball Uganda Federation elections expected to be conducted on Saturday 26, October, 2024, pressure continue mount on those aspiring for the post of president.
Ucanda Jocelyn, the former She Cranes manager and current NIC manager who is among the contestant for this post, is very confident of winning the election and just wait to swear in as new netball president.
MS News reporter had a chance to chat with manager Ucanda and the conversation went as follows;
Reporter: Why do you contest for the post of Netball president?
Ucanda: Because have been in this game for the period of 15 years and i love this game.
Reporter: Do you have the qualifications required by normalization committee to contest?
Ucanda: Let’s wait for the right time.
Reporter: Is it true that the normalization committee is tended to make you through?
Ucanda: I don’t know that.
Reporter: What do you start with if you win the seat?
Ucanda: So many to be done but let’s first win the elections.
Reporter: What have been the problems facing Netball federation?
Ucanda: Leadership and that’s the reason why our certificate was removed from us.
Reporter: Which plans are you going to use to defeat your opponents?
Ucanda: Truth because am a woman of truth and all along have been talking truth and my impact on Netball can be seen.
Reporter: How are you going to handle the issue of being NIC manager and same time Netball president?
Ucanda: I was once a she Cranes manager and same time NIC manager and i managed to handle that issue, believe me i will handle that issue because i know how to handle them.
Reporter: Who do you fear among your opponents?
Ucanda: No one because i know am going to win , come 26, October.
Reporter: Why Netball federation changed the name from Uganda Netball Federation?
Ucanda: Uganda Netball Federation had a debt of more than 200 million shillings and World Netball Federation advised us to withdraw the name to avoid those debts.
Reporter: What advice do you give to voters on the 26, October elections?
Ucanda: To elect wisely to avoid the mistakes made before.
