In the Pepsi University Football League game on Tuesday October 7th , Nkumba University secured a 3-1 victory over St. Lawrence University (SLAU).

Irivia Mamur’s brace and a Kennedy Ssewankambo goal for Nkumba cancelled out Michael Abula’s opener to ensure three valuable points for the Entebbe-based outfit.

Nkumba headed into the tie second in Group E with seven points and badly needed the victory to close in on securing progress, and with 10 now, they did themselves a huge favour.

On the other hand, St. Lawrence, who are on 12 points, needed one more to sail through as table leaders but will now have to wait for their final group game against Gulu University next week.

On an eventful evening in Entebbe, it’s the visitors who scored first through a well-timed Abula header in the fourth minute.

At the half-hour mark, Mamur found the leveller before he made it 2-1 with a beauty of a strike in the 42nd minute.

In the 94th minute, Ssewankambo extended Nkumba’s lead to ensure three priceless points for his side.

Meanwhile, in the same Group, having played five games, Gulu University and International University of East Africa lie third and fourth with four and two points, respectively.

The pair is already out of this season’s league and will only await to play their final matches against St. Lawrence and Nkumba, respectively in the coming week.
