Suspended Referee George Nkurunziza has announced premature retirement from active refereeing.
Nkurunziza confirmed the development on Friday August 11, 2023 in statement sent to the FUFA’s referee’s manager.
In May, FUFA suspended Nkurunziza for 90 days from taking part in any football activity (administrative, sport or any other) at national level.
His suspension ended on 3rd August but the Federation is yet to release a report.
“Hope this message finds you well, I write this to inform that from this day I resign from a active refereeing. First of all I would wish to thank the almighty God who has blessed me up to today and my family for the tremendous support, I also thank the FA for the technical support it has been imparting into me.
My special thanks go out to some instructors and some referees who have supported me through my 9year journey to the supporters and well-wishers from the football fraternity may God bless you.
His message to those willing to join refereeing,
“To prospective entrants or those who would wish to join refereeing, I wish you the very best in the most treacherous journey of the seemed professionalism, a journey that requires you to produce oceans of
submissiveness and loyalty in return of servitude to the most ungracious humans.”Nkurunziza was suspended along with Opio Deogracious (Referee), Waiswa Andrew (Player-Gaddafi FC), Kakooza Yaya Mahad (Player-Gaddafi FC), Lwesibawa Godfrey (Player, Kitara FC), Maganda Saleh (Player-Goalkeeper-Calvary FC), Oringa Franco (Player-Goalkeeper Northern Gateway FC) and Mwima Abdallah (Player- Ndejje FC University) are the eight suspended.
