The leaders of the NRM Branch in South Africa have revealed that they are organizing the first-ever symposium with a focus on attracting potential investors to Uganda.

The event is set to take place on the 27th and 28th of September this year in Johannesburg city.

Unlike the previous conferences which have focused on political mobilization, the Branch Chairman, Mr Isma Luzige said the forthcoming conference will provide a platform for Ugandans to interact with potential investors from the southern countries on the investment opportunities in Uganda.

“Other than foreign remittances, this is one of the ways we can contribute to the social economic transformation of our motherland through attracting direct investment and creating employment opportunities,” Luzige said today in a press conference held at the party Secretariat at plot 10 on Kyadondo road, Nakasero.

The President and NRM National Chairman, Yoweri Museveni will be the Chief Guest and NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, a keynote speaker during the high-level symposium.

The Director of External Affairs at the NRM Secretariat Maj(Rtd) Awich Pollar said Uganda and South Africa enjoy close ties and historical friendship that were cemented during the Anti-apartheid struggles.

“We are now focusing on economic empowerment of our people in both countries in the spirit of Pan-Africanism,” Counsel Awich said.

He called upon all Ugandans living in the southern countries of Africa to fully participate in the symposium due to available opportunities.
