Mukono, Uganda – In a powerful address to NRM grassroot leaders of Mukono North constituency, Hon Alisemeera Jane Babiiha, a Commissioner at the NRM Electoral Commission, emphasized the importance of effective service delivery and the implementation of the NRM party manifesto.
Speaking at the Nama Sub-county headquarters in Mukono during the first day of the NRM mobilisation tour of Mukono district, Hon Babiiha called upon party leaders to actively monitor government projects and ensure their proper execution.
The Commissioner stressed the vital role of NRM leaders at the grassroots level in overseeing government initiatives and promptly reporting any cases of shoddy work.
“You, the NRM leaders at the grassroots and various levels, should monitor government projects to see to it that there is effective service delivery for the people. Notify the authorities and the NRM secretariat leadership in case there is shoddy work being done,” she asserted.
Highlighting the significance of the NRM party manifesto, Hon Babiiha urged grassroot leaders to ensure its implementation in the best way possible. She strongly condemned any government officials who sabotage the realization of the party’s goals, emphasizing that they must be identified and face the full force of the law.
“Embrace government programs as they are designed to help uplift people’s lives from poverty. Everyone who qualifies for these programs should be served equally,” Hon Babiiha added, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunity for all Ugandans.
Corruption was another issue addressed during the Commissioner’s speech, as she called upon party members to unite in the fight against this vice.
“Let’s fight corruption at all levels; let’s be agents fighting this vice,” she declared, rallying NRM leaders to take a stand against corrupt practices.
In her bid to rejuvenate and awaken the NRM grassroot leaders politically, Hon Babiiha stressed the significance of party unity and cohesion. She encouraged leaders to resist internal intrigue and emphasized the power of a united front.
“We have come to awaken you politically to be rejuvenated and self-aware that the party you subscribe to is in power. Let’s fight intrigue within the party structure and emphasize cohesion. We are saying, wake up, or else we remove ourselves from power,” she warned.
During her address, the Commissioner also reminded NRM leaders about the importance of voting for party flagbearers during elections. She cautioned against prioritizing personal relationships over party loyalty, stating.
“Don’t just vote for people because they are your friends and relatives; always prioritize the position of the NRM party during elections, vote for party flagbearers. Why should you vote for an opposition candidate when you belong to the NRM? That is self-defeating.”
In the spirit of unity and progress, Hon Ronald Kibuule, the Mukono North Constituency Chairperson, addressed the gathering, focusing on the interests of the people and supporting President Museveni’s vision for a united Africa. He reminded the NRM leaders to prioritize the needs of their constituents and work for the common good of the community.
“You, the leaders, should fight for the interests of the people you are representing and work for the common good of your people,” he emphasized, echoing the call for grassroots leaders to be dedicated advocates for the welfare of their communities.
The speech by Commissioner Jane Babiiha served as a call to action for NRM grassroot leaders, highlighting their crucial role in ensuring effective governance, promoting the party’s agenda, and combating corruption.
With her words resonating in the hearts of the Mukono North constituency, the NRM mobilization tour continues to inspire party members to work tirelessly towards the betterment of Uganda and its people.
