The ruling National Resistance Movement party (NRM) electoral commission finally declared its parliamentary flag bearer from its primary elections of Rushenyi constituency in Ntungamo district.
Mwesigwa Rukutana was declared a winner on Wednesday 23rd by the party electoral commission chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi at its headquarters Kyadondo Kampala following beating his strong rival Kabasharira Naome with 25,310 votes making 46.27%, whereas Kabasharira Naome scored 25,290 votes equivalent to 46.23% which put her in the second position, and making a margin of 20 votes.
Other competitors were, Nahabwe Bob who came in the 3rd position following scoring 2,270 votes equivalent to 4.15%, Niwahereza Nicolus came in the 4th position who scored 1,229 making 2.25%, Beingana Norman Kashereka came in 5th position who got 350 votes making 0.64%, and Elia Rwagaba Mwesigwa came the last following scoring 256 votes making 0.47%, and the total votes casted were 54,705 making 100%.
