NRM receives 373 petitions , says all results announced are provisional till further notes

The NRM ruling party has received 373 petitions from the just recent concluded its parliamentary primaries nationwide.
This has declared by party deputy secretary general Richard Towdwong at party secretary Kyadondo Kampala during the party’s weekly press conference saying, these petitions are from 10 districts whereby the losers challenge victory of the winners due to various reasons such as violence, alteration of results, fake and forged academic papers, corruption and bribery among others.
Towdwong says in this scenario 6 people were seriously injured and some are currently nursing wounds from areas of Namutumba district, Katakwi, among others.
“Some of our members were severely affected during these elections due to violence experienced, but some have been discharged and others are still hospitalized”, he said.
Towdwong also highlighted that, each and every member who was declared as a winner or loser, investigations are currently conducted and whoever found engaged in election rigging, violence among others, will be punished in accordance the law adding that all results announced are provisional till further notes.
Towdwongo, however sounded that, NRM nominated 1,421 parliamentary candidates from 296 constituencies, and 495 women leaders from 124 representative positions.
Oscar Kahika NRM party director legal services, says they are to publish these petitions tomorrow to allow those who were petitioned respond within 3 days and a team of 14 lawyers have been involved to handle this matter.
State minister for ICT Peter Ogwang appealed to all those who won and lost to stand together to move the party forward instead fighting each other, however he applauded President Museveni for always intervening in matters of the party.
“We are all NRM party members let us be united, because divided we fall,” he added.
