The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Deputy Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko cordially welcomed Mr Ariko John De West, who officially solidified his commitment to collaborate with the ruling party by signing a memorandum of understanding.

Namayanja elaborated on the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Mr Ariko John De West, stating, “We undertake to sign an MOU with them, as the law requires that if one is independent, they are independent of any party and each other.

However, when they sign an MOU with us, they officially reaffirm their commitment to the party and are bound by the party’s positions and constitution. They are ready to implement the NRM manifesto in Abim district.”

Namayanja went on to express gratitude towards Mr Ariko for signing the MOU with the NRM party, adding, “We commit to working with you and supporting you in implementing the manifesto.”

Mr. Ariko John De West assumes the esteemed role of the new LCV chairman of Abim district following a recent ruling by the Court of Appeals.

The court’s decision nullified the tenure of Mr. Yuventine Omara, paving the way for Mr. Ariko’s appointment. Notably, Mr Ariko contested as an independent candidate in the 2021 elections.

Expressing his unwavering allegiance, Mr. Ariko John De West underscored his extensive history with the NRM since 2002. He emphasized that the memorandum of understanding serves as a formal reaffirmation of his dedication to the party’s principles.

“In my new capacity as LCV chairman, my primary objective is to oversee and bolster the party’s interests during the ongoing membership registration exercise.

Given the overwhelming support for the NRM among the people of Abim district, it’s imperative to ensure our unity,” he asserted.

Accompanying Mr Ariko was Hon. Jimbricky Norman Ochero, Member of Parliament for Labwor constituency, Abim district, signifying solidarity and cooperation within the NRM community.
