Olympics qualifiers, boxer Shadir Musa qualifies for Tokyo games

The Bombers’ captain Shadir Musa Bwogi is the only Ugandan who qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that will be held in August.

The bombers captain Shadir Musa overcame Ghana’s Lartey Jessie during a third place Box off bout on Saturday late evening in the men’s welterweight category in the Africa Olympic qualifies in Dakar, Senegal.

The last boxer to represent Uganda in the Olympic games was Sadat Tebazalwa in Athens, 2004.

It had taken 12 years for Uganda boxer to prevail to the Olympic games since Ronald Sserugo made it at 2008 games in Beijing, China. On the same occasion, Kenya’s Christine Ongere Unanimously ended Uganda Catherine Nanziri Olympic dream during a women fly weight third place box off.

All Africa games silver medalist, Isaac Masembe lost on split decision to Ghana’s Samuel Takyi in men’s featherweight third place box off.

On Friday, Ssemujju David Kavuma, the sliver medalist in All Africa games lost to Seyi Ntsengue Diendonne in the middleweight category.
