Pepsi University Football League; Kabale beat University of Kisubi

Kabale University 3-0 University of Kisubi 

Muzoora Alleluyah became the first player in the 11th edition of Pepsi University Football League to score three goals in a game where Kabale University beat University of Kisubi 3-0 on Friday afternoon.

To complete his hat trick on the day, Muzoora scored in the 6th, 76th and 85th minute.

Kabale University who are currently tops group A with three points and better goals advantage, they started the game with a lot of enthusiasm to take the maximum points and they forced Unik’s custodian, Kibukuna Julius into a world class save in the first minute of the game.

However, their target of having an early goal succeeded in the 6th minute when Muzoora Alleluyah headed home, converting from a teasing free kick swung in by Muhindo Christian. 

Unik wanted to answer the question immediately but their 20th minute efforts wasn’t utilized.

Limited chances in first stanza were created and the game went at the break with the hosts in 1-0 lead.

In second half, Kabale went on the back foot with the visitors searching for an equalizer, Wasswa Mugabi Shannon, Ssebatya Paul and Ssentongo Joshua asked a lot of questions to Kabale defense especially in the first 20 minutes of second half but were not clinical before the goal mouth. 

In the 76th minute, Muzoora Alleluyah doubled the lead for the hosts via a controversial goal that received a lot of protest from Unik players claiming that Muzoora was in an offside position upon receiving the ball but their protest yielded no fruits since the centre referee had already counted the goal. 

Nine minutes later, Muzoora completed his hat trick with a thunderbolt strike, he picked the redundant ball in a right position and sealed the win for he side in style.

“It was a good game, we are looking forward to capitalizing on the loss, I think they were a better team, they utilized their chances, they played well and to our side, the few chances we got, we failed to convert any, but the boys tried their best and we are going to better our play in the subsequent games.” Says Musaasizi Musa, Captain Unik. 

In the post match interview, Kabale University tactician, Nsubuga Farouk revealed the secret that helped them to win the opener with that goal margin.

“We were ready to play, the boys were fit mentally and physically, we have been training for a while and I think that has helped is to win the game but the group is very tight, we have defending champion in Uganda Martyrs and Bugema, so we need to be more fit and clinical.” Said Nsubuga Farouk, Kabale University tactician.

The four games played so far, the home sides have been triumphant.

The league will resume on Sunday when Makerere University is hosting 2018 champions, Kyambogo University.
