Planting Indiginous trees is the only way to over come climate changes, says Proscovia Nanyonjo.

Planting Indiginous trees is the only way to over come poor climate.
While speeking to Press at Media center today morning Proscovia Nanyonjo Vickman has agured Ugandans most epecially those who living in Buganda to stop planting none Indiginous trees like Caliptus and Pines because those was not made for our environment planting those type of tree it affected us hugely.

” In Buganda we had our trees (Misizi, Misambya and others) which was good for our ereas but those tree which was brought to us they need alot of water like Caliptus just one tree needs over 25 liters per day this afected our soil and lakes, Lake Wamala is about to die because some one planted caliptus near”
Nanyonjo represented the Buganda minister of Environment Mariam Mayanja Nkalubo at the press which was organised to call upon Ugandans to join the Global Climate strike on 20th September which is based on a theme (If not you, then who? If not now, then when?) She also alerted on the Buganda’s Bulunji bwansi Campein which will be graced by Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga and be closed by the King Ronald Muwend Mutebi 2 in Busiro 1st to 8th October.

We also planing a trees planting programe starting next week in Single, Busiro and Kyaggwe “We are looking for 1 million of indiginous tree seedling and we have got 25000 which was given us by National forest Authority.

So we are calling upon every one who can provide seedling to bring and we want only induginous trees because we want our indiginous forests back in next five year”
The strike in Uganda will be led by Youth Go Green activists group.


The Youth Go Green Chief Executive officer Edwin Muhumuza has called all Ugandans in their respective Capacities to Join the Strike by taking part in an organised March in Kampala, Kapchorwa, Gulu, Mbarara and Mbale.
In Kampala the march shall start at Constitutional square and it will end at Perliament where the youth will hand over the petition the Speaker of Perliament.


“This is the time we want global multination,development partner, Private Sector and NGOs to act and act decisively. Because not acting on climate change is violation of human rights now and in future”
Uganda has faced many problem based on climate changes ( High price and law quality of food, Floods, Land slides, long droughts and others) also Climate Change has led low income, Rampant piverty Unemployment and diseases.
