Police FC have defeated comfortably beat Ndejje University 3-1 on Thursday evening in Kavumba to register their third consecutive win of the season.

Brian Omedi, Isaac Ogwang and Emmanuel Mugume netted for Police FC to go on top of the table while Enock Omakira scored the consolation for the visiting team.

The hosts scored the opening game through Brian James Omedi to put his side in the lead, only six minutes into first half, Omedi received the ball inside the box from Onyai’s low cross and he put the shot past the goalkeeper.

Denis Kalanzi and Brian Omedi had a chance each to extend their lead but the visitors’ goalkeeper was equal to task denying them with super saves.

Duncan Sseninde also had the last chance in the first stanza to score the second goal for the home side but his powerful left foot shot inside the box went few inches from the far right bottom corner of the goal.

In the second half, Ndejje had chances to equalize but Otim missed both clear chances inside the box to leave the game 1-0 in favor of Police FC.

Ndejje’s Wakira almost equalized with his powerful shot but he was denied by goalkeeper Mutebi’s incredible save.

The hosts doubled the lead through striker Isaac Ogwang in the 63rd minute. Ogwang who received a sweet pass from play maker Denis Kalanzi, beat his marker and bent the ball to the right far corner to make it 2-0 for the home team. This was Ogwang’s first goal this season.

The visitors pulled one back through Enock Omakira’s unbelievable goal in 79th minute, Omakira who was released by Otim, controlled the ball and robbed it from outside the box past goalkeeper Mutebi who was off his line.

Ndejje continued to pile pressure on the home side looking for the equalizer but the cops managed to hold the pressure not to concede the equalizer.

The match seemed to be almost done but in the last seconds of the game, Emmanuel Mugume put the last nail in the coffin when he netted the third goal for the home team in the 90+2 minutes.

Mugume who was unmarked, received the cross at the close range and easily scored with his chest and few seconds later, the centre referee ended the game as Police registered their third win in as many games.

Police FC head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa was impressed with his team’s performance.

“We have put up a spirited performance, our target was a win, but we never wanted to concede, but I thank my boys for containing the pressure after conceding a goal, they regrouped and scored the third goal. I’m very happy with their performance.” Said joyful Mugerwa.

He also highlighted on his next game against Lugazi FC.

“Every win makes us strong, we are facing Lugazi in our next game. Lugazi is a very strong team and its big game but we will work hard to improve and make sure we win that game, however we can’t be so sure of what the future holds.” Concluded Mugerwa.

Now, Police FC are the table leaders with 9 points from 3 games while Ndejje University are sitting at the bottom of the table with zero point(s) from three games and negative 6 goals.
