Police in Lyantonde has organised an operation on money lenders who had made it a habit to confiscate people’s National identify cards after lending them money.

Lyantonde district police commander Douglas Kiwanuka has called upon people around Lyantonde whose National Identity Cards were confiscated to go to police and pick them as they have been recovered from money lenders.

Kiwanuka noted that business men who deal in money lending but have been operating for sometime without being licenced and warned that police is to take legal action against them.

The Chairman for Kooki C village in Lyantonde town council Emmanuel Sagala commended police for the operation noting that many residents had lost their IDs to money lenders in the sense of borrowing money.

He added that after they lose their IDs, they find it hard to get other services around the country especially those services that need to use a national Id to receive services.
