Police unveils new security plans to combat criminal gangs

Friday October 18th 2019 Naguru Police headquarters, Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Sabiiti Muzeyi flanked by UPDF Commander Land Forces Lt Gen. Erwelu and other senior Army and Police officer has unveiled new security plans to overcome crime in the country.

Police, to spearhead in fighting crime in the country more so in Kampala Metropolitan area according to the new joint security forces unveiled plan that will help them in fighting criminal gangs that are terrorising Ugandans following Museveni’s directive.

President Museveni early this week directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj.Gen.Muzeeyi Sabiiti, on behalf of the IGP, Okoth Ochola to lay down a strategic plan that would help deal with the rampant criminal gangs.

President Museveni last year came out with 10 security points that can overcome the criminal acts in the country.

Addressing journalists on Friday, Sabiiti said the new plan will have a registration and marking of residences and streets in a bid to enhance quick response from security in case of any attack.

The team of other officers who were presenent include Maj Gen Samuel Kawagga, commander First Division, Chief Political Commissar –CPC AIGP Asan Kasingye, Director Operations –AIGP Asuman Mugenyi, Counter-terrorism commander- AIGP, Brig. Jack Bakasumba, as the Chief of Joint Staff and Commissioner Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander, Moses Kafeero among others and these were also seen heading to Kisozi Gomba for yesterday’s meeting with president Museveni.
