The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Robbinah Nabbanja has assured the people living in urban populated areas that the government is reviewing the Parish Development model guidelines to benefit urban based parishes.

While addressing people at St. Mukasa Balikuddembe catholic sub parish in Wakiso district as they were celebrating 50 years of existence, Hon Nabbanja said that government is cognizant of the challenges being experienced by urban dwellers to access PDM money.

According to the current guidelines all parishes are supposed to receive 100 million shillings regardless of the population size.

She expressed that the government is targeting the 39% of Ugandans who are still outside the money economy so that no one is left behind and also appealed to believers to also increase their household incomes if they are to serve the Lord whole heartedly.

However, Nabbanja expressed concern that some members of parliament are not supporting development work in their constituencies which has kept them in poverty.

Msgr. Lawrence Ssemusu Lugolobi, who represented the Archbishop of Kampala appealed to Christians to emulate St. Mukasa Balikuddembe by building their church to help them continue serving the Lord.

The head of the laity Kasangati sub parish Salongo John Kitasimbwa appreciated the people of Kasangati for contributing towards the construction of the church which he said is a commitment towards serving their Lord.

According to the budget, St. Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe Catholic church requires 3billion shillings and the Prime Minister contributed 500 bags of cement, 10 big trucks of Sand and 10million shillings to help kick start the construction of the church and promised to continue supporting them.
