President Museveni to Officially Open Bukedea Teaching Hospital on Saturday

President Yoweri Museveni will tomorrow, Saturday, 23 March 2024 officially commission Bukedea Teaching Hospital.

The Hospital, built by the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, opened doors for its first patients on 15 January 2024.

The event will be graced by Ministers, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries.

Situated along Mbale-Soroti Highway in Bukedea District, the hospital was constructed to address healthcare gaps in Teso sub region characterized by drug stockouts, inadequate equipment and infrastructure, by providing affordable, quality and highly specialized treatment for the community and neighbouring districts.

At the same event, President Museveni will also commission Bukedea College of Health Sciences, a subsidiary of the hospital that offers professional health training for students.

President Museveni is also expected to address the community at Emokor Grounds in Bukedea town.

The fully-fledged Bukedea Teaching Hospital has a state-of-the-art emergency unit, incubation unit, laboratory, X-ray, theatre, maternity ward and other general wards, etc.

Between 16 January 2024 to 21 March 2024, the patient enrollment chart showed that Bukedea Teaching Hospital registered 1,160 patients at the Outpatients Department (OPD), 1,135 patients received laboratory services, 148 patients got scan services, 513 women visited the maternity unit, with 24 receiving postnatal care. 421 patients visited the Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) department and 96 in the general ward with only 6 referrals.
