Wednesday December 20th, Mr. Museveni was hosted by the groups of ghetto youth to officially launch their SACCOs at an event held at Kololo Independence grounds.
President Museveni encouraged the ghetto youth to engage themselves in commercial agriculture, industry, services and ICT to overcome poverty
“I interacted with the Kampala ghetto youth groups in Kololo this afternoon.
Mr. Museveni who was the chief guest urges the youth to participate in four sectors so if they want to overcome poverty saying that.”
“My message for you is, engage yourselves in the four sectors of commercial agriculture, industry, services, and ICT to overcome poverty.
I am glad that some are already involved in the services sector. We shall support them through the State House skilling initiative.
I want to thank Brig. Ddamulira, Maj. Emma Kutesa and those they work with for bringing light into the ghetto and mobilising them to form SACCOs.
The ghetto youth groups have now formed 12 SACCOs, and we will support each group with startup capital of 100m shillings.
My appeal to them is to work together and be accountable to one another if they are to get the best out of these SACCOs.
