As a joint security team persue prisoners after a jail break Wednesday evening, three have been shot dead in a fire exchange.
The exchange also left an army officer dead, spokesman, Lt Col. Deo Akiiki, said. The UPDF under the direct command of the 3rd Division Commander Brig. Joseph Balikudembe is part of the support to the police and prisons in pursuit of 219 prisoners who escaped hours ago.
Only seven have so far been captured. 15 guns remain missing.
The army has called for calm as the force purses the escapees.
