In a commendable demonstration of their commitment to improved community health, Rakai Health Science Program (RHSP) has launched a dynamic cleaning initiative named “TWEYONJE” (meaning “let’s clean ourselves”) in the Kalisizo community.

The Kalisizo community has witnessed a remarkable transformation as RHSP’s dedicated team spearheads this impactful cleaning program.
The initiative aims to underscore the intrinsic link between community cleanliness and overall health, emphasizing the manifold benefits that arise from a concerted effort in maintaining a hygienic environment.
Residents of Kalisizo have expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the laudable efforts of RHSP in enhancing the well-being of their community. The initiative serves as a reminder to prioritize cleanliness, not only for health reasons but also for the economic advantages it brings.
The driving force behind this initiative includes prominent figures such as the current Executive Director, Dr. Kigozi Godfrey, along with the esteemed Dr. Gertrude Nakigozi and Dr. Fred Nalugodda, Collaborating with the local community leaders.
This collective effort aims to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness regarding the pivotal role that cleanliness plays in fostering a healthier and more prosperous community.
Beyond its recent community engagement, Rakai Health Sciences Program has gained national recognition for its pioneering contributions in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Renowned for its impactful research on voluntary male circumcision as a strategy to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS in Uganda, RHSP continues to play a pivotal role in shaping public health initiatives on a broader scale.
As RHSP extends its reach beyond the realms of research, the “TWEYONJE” initiative stands as a testament to their holistic approach towards community well-being.
