Real Madrid confirm shoulder injury for Jude Bellingham

The England international was passed fit for Wednesday’s Champions League game with Braga, but he was ultimately an unused substitute in what proved to be a 3-0 success for the capital outfit.

Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti then said during his press conference on Friday that Bellingham would be available for the clash with Valencia at Bernabeu.

However, a statement from Real Madrid has revealed that the summer arrival from Borussia Dortmund will be unavailable against Los Che due to “anterior instability of the left shoulder”.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Jude Bellingham, he has been diagnosed with anterior instability of the left shoulder, a consequence of his recent dislocation. Bellingham is out for today’s game against Valencia,” read a statement from the capital giants.

The 20-year-old is not expected to be out for a long period, though, with various reports claiming that he will be available for the team’s first game after the November international break against Cadiz.

Bellingham has been in outstanding form for Real Madrid this season, scoring 13 goals and registering three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions.

The midfielder has managed 10 goals and two assists in 11 La Liga appearances, while he has three goals and one assist in three Champions League appearances.

Bellingham’s absence from the side against Valencia could mean that Brahim Diaz keeps hold of his starting role, having impressed against Braga last time out.

Real Madrid currently have a long list of absentees, with Antonio Rudiger also missing against Valencia due to a suspension, while Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois are long-term absentees with serious knee injuries.

Aurelien Tchouameni is also out, potentially until the start of 2024, with a broken foot, while Dani Ceballos, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Arda Guler are unavailable for selection.

Real Madrid were held to a goalless draw by Rayo in the league last weekend, but they booked their spot in the last-16 stage of the Champions League with a 3-0 success over Braga last time out in Europe.

After the clash with Cadiz on November 26, Los Blancos will host Napoli in the Champions League, and head coach Ancelotti will have the luxury of resting players in their final two group matches.
