Evelyn Namulondo said her upcoming show was weighing her down until Rema Namakula and her husband, Dr. Hamza Ssebunya, gave her Shs5 million to fund operations.

Namulondo revealed this during an interview with Isaac Katende, alias Kasuku, who hosts Kasuku Live on YouTube.

Kasuku: Eve, you got a new man… it seems he is the one funding you?

Namulondo: Leave me alone, please.

Kasuku: There is no man?

Namulondo: I thank my sister Rema Namakula; she is the one who gave me money to invest in the concert. And her husband, Ssebunya. Because they noticed things were getting tough for me. They called me and gave me Shs5 million. I really thank them.

Evelyn Namulondo’s show is dubbed ‘The Best of Evelyn Namulondo: From Zero to Hero’ and it will be held at Theatre Labonita on Thursday August 3, 2023.

It’s not a surprise that Rema Namakula and Dr. Ssebunya would make such a commitment to Namulondo because she has always hung out with them.

Namakula and Namakula have been friends for over a decade and the latter used to give the former transport money when she was still a struggling singer.

They have known each other since Rema was still under Bebe Cool’s record label Gagamel Crew.

In 2013, the Sili Muyembe singer unceremoniously left the label for a solo career. She left Gagamel during the period she was dating Eddy Kenzo who also played a huge role in uplifting her music career. Her relationship with Kenzo lasted about six years.

In interviews, Eveyln Namulondo has said she first saw Rema in the video of her song with Bebe Cool titled Ceaze & Sekkle.

Through one Muwonge, she met Rema at Theatre Labonita. Rema had also seen her in the video of Kenzo’s Zivuga. They exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
