Rt Hon. Anita Among is hosting a delegation of Mps from EALA led by the Speaker Rt Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana.
On his part, the Speaker of EALA, Rt. Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana, called for harmony and tolerance among all Members of EALA. He thanked Rt. Hon. Speaker Among for her good gesture in hosting EALA Members for dinner at her residence.
The group is in the Country for induction of committees after recently swearing in.
The Rt. Hon. Anita Among has called upon EALA to promote regional peace as a key driver of EAC regional integration.
She made the call while addressing EALA members at a dinner she hosted in their honor. The Speaker expressed concern about the absence of DRC members of EALA at the induction in Kampala.
She also asked EALA Members to facilitate the deepening, widening and tightening of integration by passing regional laws that are responsive to the needs of East Africans. She assured EALA of the support from the East African Speakers Bureau.
She called on EALA to increase the visibility of the Assembly by carrying out sensitization activities in the EAC region. She also advised the Assembly to ensure that laws that are debated in the Assembly are cascaded to the regional parliaments.
