Onduparaka FC 1-3 SC Villa

SC Villa continued their fine run of form as they defeated Onduparaka 3-1 on Monday.

Goals from Emmanuel Kalyowa, Faizo Muwawu and substitute Fahad Badilo did the damage for the Jogoos while Julius Malingumu scored Onduparaka’s consolation.

The Jogoos were rampant in the early exchanges taking the lead through Kalyowa who headed in Derrick Ndahiro’s well weighted cross from the left.

The home side went all out for an instant reply and were left exposed at the back.

Muwawu connected neatly with an Ibrahim Kibumba low cross to score Villa’s second on 13 minutes.

Green Light stadium was stunned at this stage as Villa comfortably settled in and started dictating play.

Inside the three added on minutes, Ibrahim Dada tried to pass back to custodian Yusuf Wasswa but his lazy ball was pounced onto by Badilo who dinked it past the on-rushing custodian.

Villa could have scored another-earlier but Kalyoowa was denied by Wasswa as the midfielder tried to lob the stranded custodian.

Onduparaka too had chances in the game but only made on count.

Malingumu headed agonizingly wide off a Rajab Kakooza long ball.

Kakooza then finished poorly as he dragged his effort wide off a Vitalis Tabu cut-back before Gadafi Wahabu saw a free kick tipped over by Saidi Keni.

On 66 minutes, Onduparaka’s persistent knocking-on-the-door, would finally be rewarded as Malingumu netted off substitute Joel Jangeyambe’s assist.

The Caterpillars’ best chance to level the game fell to Rashid Muhammad but the defender headed Malingumu’s cross straight at Keni.

They also had a penalty appeal waved away after substitute Andama Denis’s shot was charged down by Asuman Alishe.

Victory takes Villa to 27 points from 14 games. However, they remain 3rd on the standings, two points behind BUL FC who are in 2nd spot.

For Onduparaka who have now lost two home games this season, they end their first round on 23 points from 15 games. They had earlier lost 2-1 to URA FC.

Villa will complete their first round with a heavyweight duel against KCCA FC.
