CECAFA U20: 11 Countries Confirm their participation in this year’s Edition as Rwanda opt out.
Uganda will host this years regional Under 20 championship, the two weeks tournament slated to kick off on Saturday 21st/09/2019 till Saturday 05th/10/2019 and 11 counties confirm their participation.
During a press conference this Saturday morning at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Fufa 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoye confirmed Pece Stadium in Gulu and Fufa Technical Centre in Jinja as the two venues to host this year’s Cecafa U20 Championship.
Mugoye further added, “Gulu residents are eager to host their first international tournament”.
Cecafa General Secretary Nicholas Musonye hailed Fufa for expressing willingness in hosting the tournament. He disclosed that 11 out of the 12 Member countries had confirmed participation.
Rwanda will miss the event due to other engagements while Djibouti have already arrived in Kampala. Djibouti plays Sudan in the first fixture on Sept 21 at 2:00pm before the official opening match between hosts Uganda and Eritrea at 4:00pm at Pece Stadium.
Group A: Uganda, Sudan, Eritrea & Djibouti.
Group B: Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar & Tanzania.
Group C: Burundi, South Sudan & Somalia.
Group A will be based in Gulu as B and C will use the njeru technical center during their group stage matches.
The opening match, semis and the final to be staged at pece Stadium Gulu.
