Rwenzururu Kingdom is seeking for 9 billion Uganda Shillings for the proper preparations for the return of Omusinga of Rwenzururu His Majesty Charles Wesley Iremangoma Mumbere, to his Kingdom, scheduled to take place on 4th October 2023, plus two more activities.

The budgeted 9 billion shillings is meant for three activities including the return of the Omusinga to his Kingdom, who left his Kingdom after being arrested and detained with his subjects on 27 November 2016 during a security raid to the Obuhikira palace in Kasese,  recently released after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) withdrew the charges against them.

After the first preparatory meeting held at Rwenzori International University in Kasese Municipality,  the General Secretary of the Organizing Executive Committee, Clarence Bwambale revealed that the required 9 billion shillings will be used for various activities, such as funding the purchase of KEPP Resort Hotel owned by the Late Gen. James Kazini in Kasese Municipality, Coronation anniversary, and Royal welcome celebrations.

Clarence urged the kingdom subjects to listen only to the guidance of Dr. Walemba, who is the overall chairman, and encouraged the Banya-Rwenzururu to contribute generously to rebuilding the kingdom as a sign of unity.

He threatened to take legal action against individuals with bad intentions of stealing people’s names of OBR. However, he added that donors towards the cause would be appreciated with different certificates depending on their contributions.

As Dr. Walemba assumes the role of the overall chairman, Mr. Amis Masereka Asuman, the Chief Administrative Officer for Bunyangabu district, chairs the welcoming celebrations committee, and Rt. Hon. Gad Mbayahi will head the Coronation preparations. According to Hon. Clarence, Hon. Edwin Kugonza chairs the committee responsible for property purchases, among other members of the executive.
