Police in Sheema district has discovered a body of a S.6 candidate from Kitagata Secondary school who died after a pit latrine collapsed as he was preparing for his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams.
The deceased was identified as Caption Rwamamanzi, 23 a Senior Six student with a subject combination of Physics, Economics, Mathematics, and Information Computer Technology (ICT) at Kitagata SSS in Kitagata Town Council, Sheema District.

It is alleged that the deceased went missing on 12/11/2023 and the school management tried to look for him but they failed. On 13/11/2023, they reported the case to the police and the search went on.

The school Deputy Headteacher Asaph Mwije said that the school management tried checking in all the school buildings to see if he could be hiding in one of them but they didn’t find him, therefore they decided to move to Kitagata Police Station the following morning to make a report of the disappearance of their student.

The police spokesman for Greator Bushenyi Marcial Tumusiime attributed the incident to heavy rains which destroyed the foundation of the latrine yet it was constructed on a slanting terrain.
