Sadiq Ssempigi has quit as Big League side Jinja North United FC head coach.

A source who preferred anonymity told this website that the tactician left his job to pursue further studies. Ssempigi is currently a CAF B licensed coach holder.

However, there has also been mounting pressure from the fans demanding results, which eluded the team since Ssempigi’s appointment.

Ssempigi was appointed at the start of the ongoing campaign after promoting Mbarara City FC back to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and decided not to continue with the Mbarara-based outfit in the top flight.

He took charge of the Jinja-based side for ten games and managed only a single win, five draws, and four defeats.

Jinja North was thrashed 4-1 at home by Kigezi Home Boys FC on Monday, Ssempigi’s final game in charge of the club.

Upon Ssempigi’s arrival, the ambition was to earn promotion to the SUPL next season, but they are languishing in the relegation zone with eight points in the 13th position on the 16-team log.

Jinja North will begin life without Ssempigi on the road against fellow strugglers Young Elephants on Sunday, December 3.

Besides his short stint at Jinja North and his reign at Mbarara, he previously served as an assistant coach at Arua Hill SC.
