UPL SC Villa 2-1 Proline

Benson Muhindo scored a late winner for record champions SC Villa to register the third second round win at Namboole on Saturday 8th February 2020.
Proline were unfortunate not go home with at least a point having dominated proceedings from the word go.
SC Villa who were at home had bad day in the office but were lucky to emerge the eventual winners of the game that had two lethargic teams in either final thirds.
Proline’s early dominance saw then take the lead through Hamis Diego Kiiza who was on the receiving end of Hakim Kiwanuka’s crafty work to round off goalkeeper Said Keni in the 18th minute.
Baker Mboowa’s coached side had a host of goal scoring attempts that notably fell to Kiwanuka, Arnold Sserunjogi and Bright Anukani who tried his luck from a distance on numerous occasions, but couldn’t find target.
Debutant Fred Agandu had a chance to level the game before the halftime break but failed to tap in a Derrick Ndahiro delivery with only the keeper to beat. His effort went above the bar instead.
The second half start saw Edward Kaziba bringing on Faizal Muwawu for a less productive Ronald Magwali while Agandu’s place was taken by the eventual game winner Muhindo.
In the 75th minute, Villa were awarded a penalty by referee Nasser Muhammad after Richard Ajuna challenged Ambrose Kirya from behind just inside the six yards box.
Kirya took up the responsibility to convert from 12 yards and subsequently put the ball few inches beyond Hassan Matovu’s trying gloves but in the bottom left corner to mark his sixth goal of the season.
At 1-1, Proline pushed for a possible winner with relentless attacks and almost got it had it not been the brilliance of their former goalkeeper Said Keni.
Keni denied Brian Umony from close range with a superb save in the 82nd minute following a goal mouth melee.
Two minutes later, David Owori got a keeper to beat opportunity to score the winner for Villa but failed to convert Faizal Muwawu’s wonderful spadework from the right flank.
It looked like it was going to be a one-all draw until Proline were punished for the number of chances they failed to convert.
Academy graduate Benson Muhindo was set up by Amir Kakomo to launch a powerful shot from the left side of attack and win it for the Jogoos in the second minute of the added four.
Victory preserved Villa’s third place in the table standings with 37 points from 21 games while Proline remain bottom of the table with only 15 points, six behind 15th placed Tooro United.
Next assignments for either sides will be in the Stanbic Uganda Cup where Proline will host Tororo’s Admin FC on Tuesday while Villa will visit Kajjansi United at Wankulukuku on Sunday.
