The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Monica Musenero called upon young science innovators to come out and expose their business ideas so that they can be helped to put their ideas in reality through acquiring new skills.
She noted this during the second day of the science week where she toured around different stalls with science and technology products in Kololo independence grounds that have been made by young innovators in the country.
Adressing the press at Kololo independence grounds, Minister Musenero noted that the Ministry has been able to attract over 70 investors to come into the country to help science innovators put their ideas into practice and support them to acquire production skills.
She noted that these investors have not been attracted to take ideas from Uganda but to help Ugandans support their ideas into reality.
She added that young science innovators have been exposing their ideas on exhibitions without getting more support, she therefore called upon them to use the chance to present their ideas so that they can be helped to achieve from them, as this will help them produce their own science and technology in the country other than transferring developmental ideas to outside countries.
One of the investors from Nigeria Kunmi Dumuren from Green house capital noted that Africa is equipped with good business environment and ideas, with educated people that attracted them to select Uganda among the 4 African countries that were chosen to assist in developing their skills.
Another investor Magdi M Amin stressed that they expect to make more investments in Uganda since the business environment is favourable for science and innovations.
This year’s science week Tusimbudde is the third after the first one in 2021 and the second one in 2022.
