Shooting growth as FUFA TV Cup gats 57 new members

The Second edition of FUFA TV Cup get launched on Friday 14 June at FUFA Complex Mengo and the sharp growth has been examined.
The competition set off last year targeting Uganda traditional schools having became short to the USSSA schools competition.

At the first edition there were only 8 participants and St Mary’s College Kisubi emerged champions defeating Kiira College Butiki 2-1 in the final.
Ahead of the second edition Dr Apollo Ahimbisibwe the competitions organising committee Chairperson has confirmed the growth of the competition beyond last year’s boundaries.

“At the opening edition which occurred last year 2023 we had 8 school from Kampala, Mukono and Jinja, out of the country wide outcry we have chosen to invite schools from the most corners of the country to come up with 65 Schools”

The 65 schools have been invited via 12 segmented Chapters with Busoga Chapter and Kampala Chapter received the biggest Portion of invite with 8 teams each while Western Chapter received 5 invites as Buganda Chapter, Buganda-Masaka Chapter, East Buganda Chapter, Rwenzori Chapter, Busoga Chapter, Kampala Chapter, Luo Chapter, Elgon Chapter, Bukedi Chapter, Bunyoro Chapter and West Nile Chapter all got 4 teams invited to represent.

The tournament is set to begin with a home and away preliminary round between Nganwa High School and St Kagwa with the first leg coming on 16 June.

The Preliminary return leg, the round of 64, 32 and 16 are scheduled between Sunday 16 June and 28 Sunday August on Home and away knockout basis thereafter the schools that will reach last 8 round will gather at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru for the National Tournament taking action from Sunday 28 August to Thursday 15 September 2024.
