The changes at Tanzanian giants Simba SC have also included the ladies’ team, the Simba Queens.

This after the club confirmed the departure of Simba Queens head coach Charles Ayeikoh Lukula through their social media handles.

“We thank Charles Lukula for being the head coach of Simba Queens for one season; we wish him the best in his life,” the tweet read.

The former SOANA FC head coach took charge of Simba Queens in October 2022 after the side had won the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA Zonal qualifiers.

Simba Queens beat Ugandan side coached by Ayeiko She Cooperates 1-0 at the Azam Complex to seal a slot in the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League tournament.

Ayeikoh then guided the side to the competition’s semifinals in Morocco but were eliminated by eventual runners-up Mamelodi Sundowns after they lost 1-0.

Ayeikoh fell short of winning the Serengeti Women’s Premier League last season as Fountain Gate Princesses claimed the title on 29 points, two ahead of third-placed Simba Queens and one ahead of second-placed JKT Queens.

Unless Simba Queens return to the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers as defending champions, Fountain Gate Princesses will be expected to represent Tanzania.

With Ayeikoh now a free agent, it’s only a matter of time before reports linking him to the vacant Crested Cranes position come to life.

Uganda will host the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League; the tournament will take place between June and August, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
