Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) expressed dissatisfaction over some items that have been included on the National budget saying, they are not necessary but wastage of the taxpayers money.

This comes at a time when the Minister of Finance Hon Matia Kashaija released the country’s budget for the financial year 2024/2025 on Thursday 13/06/2024, indicating 72 Trillion from the 53 Trillion for the financial year 2023/2024 manifesting
an increase of 20 Trillion.

According to Fdc, it was unfair for the government to release that increase in the National budget yet the country has no services.

“We don’t discourage people from paying tax, but we are moving on poor roads, no medicine in hospitals, bribe in government departments is becoming rampant among other challenges.”Said the Fdc Deputy spokesperson Richard Muyombya.

During the weekly briefing at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Muyombya noted that, some of the items that have increased the National budget are unnecessary suggesting that they should be removed from the budget. Such items include the 300 Billion for special meals, 167 Billion for Car maintenance, and 160 Billion to the President’s office in the state house.

Muyombya updated the press about the progress of the moblisation campaign through the digital registration and over 700 members have so far been registered.

The party is to move to different parts of the country to assist in registering those members who face network challenges and members who do not have smartphones or cannot access internet.

However, Muyombya noted that any Fdc Mp or member suspected of engaging in any act of corruption is to be summoned and face the party disciplinary committee, and if proven guilty, they are to be forced to return the money and the party is to propose such members to be suspended from the party for 2 years, irrespective of their position in the party.
