The speaker of parliament Anita Among has denied knowledge or formal notification of any invitation from president Museveni to the parliamentary Budgets committee.
She confessed this after the Leader of Opposition in parliament Mathius Mpuuga raised a matter of concern in parliament this afternoon question where president Museveni delives power and authority to summon a committee of parliament without the knowledge of the speaker of parliament.
LOP Mpuuga said that some of the opposition MPs on the committee had informed him that Museveni has summoned them to state house to discuss on the proposed new taxes in the coming financial year 2023/24.
Mpuuga therefore asked the speaker of parliament Among to prevail and stop the tendence by Museveni of summoning parliamentary committees especially where a matter handles is of his interest with the recent one being the parliamentary Legal committee which was scrutinizing the anti homosexuality bill 2023.
